RyanTomash

Dance has been a part of Ryan Tomash's life from an early age, growing up in Toronto in an environment where working in the dance studio became a natural extension of home and laid the foundation for his later artistic development.

Ryan Tomash was admitted to the National Ballet School of Canada, where he gained a solid foundation in classical ballet — a choice that later proved crucial to his professional career. In 2017, he entered the Royal Ballet, where his development was recognised through appointments as soloist in 2021 and solo dancer in 2022.

His artistic span became particularly evident in 2019 when he danced the role of Armand Duval in John Neumeier's Lady of the Carmelias. A role that required both technical excess and dramatic presence. In August 2025, Ryan Tomash was admitted as a soloist at New York City Ballet, which has expanded his international reach while allowing for closer contact with family.

For Ryan Tomash, dance is not merely technical precision and aesthetics; in the narrative ballets, history and relationships are expressed through each movement, while the abstract works emphasize intention and presence. His artistic courage shows in his willingness to say yes to challenges, step out of the safe and constantly develop his expression — a process that has taken him from Toronto to Copenhagen and now New York.

Ryan Tomash has received the award in recognition of his outstanding talent, dedication and significant contribution as a ballet dancer. His strong stage presence, refined technique and depth of expression have made a lasting impression on audiences and colleagues. In line with Henrik Lyding's ideals of artistic quality, the relationship between artist and audience and the development of the performing arts, Ryan Tomash continues the foundation's values and contributes to shaping the next generation of ballet artists.
