BenjaminKitter

Benjamin Kitter grew up in an acting family, but the path into the profession was neither given nor uncomplicated. Only in his early 20s did he find calm in the decision to dedicate himself to acting as his own artistic path.

At theatre school, his driving force changed character: from living up to a legacy, it now became crucial for him to take ownership of his own artistic standpoint. Here, for the first time, he experienced the magical moment when the craft of acting lifts into art in the meeting between actor, role and audience. In the shared space where history is shared, a field of tension arises that Benjamin describes as both meaningful and transformative — an experience of space “breathing together.”

Benjamin Kitter is particularly concerned with complex characters, especially those who immediately appear dark or unsympathetic. His work always seeks to make the whole person visible behind all the layers, and it is often here that the performance is allowed to live on after the carpet falls.

The theatre forms Benjamin's artistic home, where he, in a creative collaboration with

director and ensemble shape the process and contribute to the development of each performance. For him, the stage is a space where technical craftsmanship, artistic courage and emotional presence meet, and where the audience's commitment confirms the value of art.

Benjamin Kitter has received the award in recognition of his inspirational talent, versatility and significant contribution to Danish theatre and performing arts. From his strong debut at the Royal Theatre to compelling performances in both classical and contemporary setups, his work has time and again exhibited depth, span and emotional clarity. In line with Henrik Lyding's ideals of the power of narrative and the transformative role of the actor on stage, Benjamin Kitter with his craft and commitment gives voice to these values and carries on the foundation's legacy in Danish performing arts.
